GOP Voters Favor Arpaio For Governor
From Rasmussen Reports

If Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio decides to seek the Republican nomination for governor of Arizona, he will enter the race as the clear favorite. Incumbent Governor Jan Brewer places third in an early look at the 2010 GOP gubernatorial race.

The first Rasmussen Reports telephone poll of next year's GOP Primary in Arizona shows Arpaio, known nationally for his tough efforts to crack down on illegal immigration, attracting 47 percent of the vote while four other candidates split another 44 percent.

Among all Arizona voters, Arpaio leads likely Democratic gubernatorial candidate Terry Goddard by 12 points – 51 percent to 39 percent.

If Arpaio ever becomes governor of Arizona, God help us all as it will be a police state instead of a democracy and I will most definitely leave the state. Its bad enough that he is over stepping his bounds, breaking the law, using his office as a vendetta against those individuals who go against him or speak out against him. He should have retired a long time ago.

Sheriff Joe is frightening, to put it mildly! He totally agnores the law, except what he chooses to enforce, including getting his advice from a website (whick turned out to be wrong).

He has cost Maricopa County literally millions in lost lawsuits, not to mention the tax dollars wasted on his retaliation schemes against anyone he considers has questioned his authority. He's also noted for simply making up charges against anyone he wishes, and we the tax payers get to pick up the tab.

He obviously believes he has the power to do anything he wishes, and he has been quoted as saying "Abuse of power is not illegal."

God help Arizona if this person ever becomes governor! Of course there's always a chance the feds will move quickly enough to put Sheriff Joe in tent city, where he belongs. Not that having a convicted felon for a governor is anything new to Arizona.

And I seriously question how, or if, this guy really is reelected, or whether it's simply selective vote counting. He has no qualms about other violations, why would he stop at this?

Pro-illegal entry = Pro-exploitation of the poor from other countries for your own gain politically and/or financially. Regardless of the race or nationality it's exploitation. It is especially shameful when it's supported and encouraged just to make yourself seem "humane" and just to feel good about yourself without regard to the consequences to the illegal entrant's on-going suffering once they cross the borders illegally. If you promote illegal entry it makes you just as guilty of exploiting them as the smugglers and employers. Those cloaked in good deeds are well camouflaged.

@ James

I would agree that the kids should not interrupt a presentation if possible. I don't like Joe. Having said that, Joe obviously does not believe in freedom of the press. He would have every member of the press under surveillance looking for dirt if he could. There are obvious reasons for concern when you have a public official who is sworn to uphold the law, but violates peoples rights whenever the situation is convenient for him.

Joe needs to retire and go argue with some home owners association members or something. That is what older guys his age should be doing.

There are many folks who are useful members of society at his age, but my gut instinct tells me that this guy is never going to change and he should retire.

Sheriff Joe's deputies have murdered several inmates in their custody, using a "strap-em down fun chair" for their gratification while beating inmates to death. In spite of all the lawsuits filed against the Sheriff's Dept over this practice, Arizona voters just love it.

They love the pink panties thing, they love the moldy baloney sandwiches inmates are fed, and they love seeing a woman in custody being caged outdoors in 110+ degree heat until she dies from heat stroke. Sheriff Joe isn't the problem, it's the wackos who live in Arizona.

Arizonans are a bunch of chicken shxx white folks afraid of their own shadow. They just won the right to carry guns into bars when they're out getting drunk, and all of them are afraid there's a brown person hiding underneath their bed or in their closet.

Arizona has become nothing more than a banana republic, with Sheriff Joe acting as the local Hugo Chavez. If Joe gets elected as Governor, he'll be just as out of control.

I can only imagine how this state will turn around and be great if Sheriff Joe becomes governor! Our representatives are not nannies. They have jobs to do and if they make you feel ooky, you are a huge part of the problem. This state was much better 20 years ago before all of California, Mexico and various grifters moved in. If Sheriff Joe drives them out because he makes this a more conservative, law-abiding state, yay for the rest of us!

How is he doing his job when he picks and chooses who he is going to protect? He was elected to do a job for the county of Maricopa yet if he has a falling out with a mayor he chooses to not protect that city. If you speak out against him he uses his "power" to go after you. He needs to be brought back down to reality. And now he is advising his deputies to go against court orders. He thinks he is above and beyond the law.

December 3, 2009 at 2:06 PM

Sheriff Joe is doing a great job. He stands up for what he believes, he's doing the job, he's enforcing the law. He's the one trying to get all these illigals out of this state. As for the judge who put that deputy into jail, you should step down, the deputy felt there was a possible threat he did his job, it was not your place to put him in jail or to make him apologize for anything. Lord knows if you were in any danger you be the first to scream for a deputy to help you, maybe the deputies should not be in your court anymore. And for the stupid lawyer you need to get over yourself

December 3, 2009 at 2:45 PM

The deputy should have never took that piece of paper. And Sheriff Joe is not enforcing the laws in the county of Maricopa. He "enforces" the law as long as the mayor doesn't disagree with him. If they disagree with him then he won't enforce the law in that city. Good for the judge for standing up to the "good old" sheriff's office. We need more judges like that

Sheriff Joe is the only person in the entire state that is trying to do something about the illegals. All you ever hear is how the state doesn't have money for education, health care etc. Try not giving state funds to illegals and that should take care of alot of the problem. I am so tired of being in line at a grocery store behind someone who can't speak english (clue 1) paying for junk food in food stamps and then loading them into their Escalade. What the DO did was completely wrong and I don't like that Joe is standing up for him but nobody is perfect.

Arpaio should run for Governor. He'd win. Legislation and laws regarding "Illegals" would then be enforced, as He would control the budget for it. Then, I bet more "illegals" would become "legal", which is the whole point. Legal residents feel cheated because they pay for illegals. Illegals feel scared (or just plain too lazy) to do anything about it. Either be a citizen of this country you live in - or go leech off of another one someplace else.

This country has been invaded by Mexico for decades and the politicians in Washington have not lifted a finger to stop it. McCain should have been leading this charge, but he has turned traitor too.

Sheriff Joe will be indicted by a Federal Grand Jury to stop him from becoming governor.
If he becomes governor, he would send a militia to the border. I will volunteer to go.

I don't care if he does abuse his power, since he does it in support of causes I believe in.
All politicians abuse power. Look at Attorney General Holder.

There is no law anymore. Only politics.
There is no science anymore. Only politics.
There is no religion anymore. Only politics.
There is no truth anymore. Only politics.

The following letter was sent to Dennis K. Burke today with the hopes that he will agree to establish a specialized outreach effort to collect information on the abuses by and corruption of Joe Arpaio. Of course, I signed my letter and included my contact information. It is my sincere hope that you, the readers, will follow suit and contact Dennis Burke's Office with your own information. Please be sure to use your name, address and contact information. It goes without saying that most government agencies are unlikely to act on anonymous information. To access Dennis Burke's contact information simply go to: http://www.justice.gov/usao/az/contacts.html

Honorable Dennis K.Burke
US Attorney for Arizona

Dear Mr. Burke,

Recent reports indicate that your office is aware of serious allegations of abuse and corruption within the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.

I respectfully request that, due to the nature of and the number of allegations of abuse and corruption within the office of Joseph M. Arpaio, your office establish a specialized outreach effort to allow those citizens with information to provide your investigators with enough detail to substantiate the allegations of corruption and abuse.

Specifically, my information is intended to provide you with instances of contract fraud, misuse of RICO funds, misuse of JEF funds, selective and targeted harassment, abuse of power, obstruction of justice, threatening and intimidating, Purjury, forgery and false swearing and providing false information on a public Financial Disclosure Form.

It is my understanding that there are also a number of MCSO employees willing to come forward to provide similar information.

Because of the complexity of the issues and volatile nature of the corruption within MCSO, it is unlikely that my information (or that of many others) could be adequately communicated through a tip line. Accordingly, I ask that you consider assigning a special outreach unit to address the overwhelming amount of information it is likely your office would be receiving.

For your kind consideration, and for your assistance I respectfully thank you in advance.

According to the Maricopa County Criminal Justice records, illegal aliens commit violent crimes at almost 3 times that of native born Americans.
- We spend about $1 billion annually in K-12 on illegal aliens.
- Arizona #2 in the World in kidnappings.
- Illegal alien abuse of our medical facilities has forced many to close.
- Illegal aliens use our deserts to dump their non-degradable garbage.
- Through increases in taxation, our representatives are stealing our property in order to redistribute our wealth to illegal aliens.
- In the U.S., 26 citizens a day are killed by the actions of illegal aliens (12 by stabbings and shootings and 13 by DUI and related crimes)
- Services we are required to provide to illegals are bankrupting our states and lowering our quality of life and quality of education.
- Tucson public schools use race based ethnic study courses to denigrate the U.S., inculcating loyalty to Mexico.
- Abetting illegals enables the culture of corruption they bring to grow: Kidnapping, ID theft, drug wars, murder, vehicular manslaughter, gangs, graffiti, drop houses, hostage taking, blackmail, rape and death during transport of illegals, home invasions.
- voting for sanctuary cities allows potential terrorists, who are illegals, to walk our streets with impunity (4 of the 5 leaders and pilots of the 9-11 terrorist were stopped by law enforcement and released and were in violation of our immigration laws. Had they been arrested 9-11 would have been averted.

In the movie "The Day the Earth Stood Still", an alien civilization has elected to be governed by robots with ultimate power to destroy them if they don't live up to standards they've decided were in everyone's best interest. Joe strikes me as the Earthly equivalent of that, at least as close as we can get at this point. He is an unrelenting, immovable object who dishes out seemingly emotionless consequences to violators of the existing laws. Some view the results as extreme, others see them as fair and just. But those who put the enforcers in place gave them their power, either in the form of alien weaponry or statutory law. One might expect that not all of the aliens are too happy about the robots, just as a vocal minority here on terra firma don't like the existence of Sheriff Joe. But there they stand. Doing what they do best. And we put them there. And as long as the majority feel they are being well served, it's probably a good thing. Just don't go poking the robot with a stick.

You will never control illegal immigration from a County in the middle of the State and he knows that. He is just trying to gain your favor to run for a higher office so we can all be at the mercy of whatever he decides is right or wrong. Wake up Arizona, let's get back to the way we used to be and bring in those types of Sheriffs we used to respect and love..Wish you were still around Sword...
