I respect him. He is not afraid to call on someone who is using their politics to harm someone just because they don't like them or they are not of their party affiliation. I wish we had more stand up people like Sheriff Joe in our political world and maybe it wouldn't be in such a horrible mess!!\Peggy from Phoenix

Some of your comments are funny! Like this one,

"He is not afraid to call on someone who is using their politics to harm someone just because they don't like them or they are not of their party affiliation."

Joe is infamous for attacking political rivals he does not agree with. As soon as they attack back he cries fowl. That fault does not earn my respect.

If we had more people like Joe in Politics nothing would get done. No Wait! There are many stubborn a-holes like him in politics! That is the problem!

I compared Joe Arpaio with pesident Chavez in Venezula, even if people don't like it he uses his power to get done. That is totally wrong. So sad to have people like him in our country.

Seems to me that sooooo many people confuse Arpaio`s 60`s deep south style of GOOD OLE BOY law enforcement as good police work..ASSUMING that his illegal alien stance is correct .... WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER 98% of the duties of his office that have been put on his back burner or just ignored ???? ALL OF HIS INVESTIGATION OF POLITICAL RIVALS SMACKS OF JOE MC CARTHY POLITICS...

No matter how anyone sees it, Sheriff Joey did not answer any questions straight forward. When asked a question he would change the subject or just state there a lawsuit pending I can not discuss the matter. Then why have the journalist panel or even show up if you are not going to answer any questions. It is amazing that today Andrew Thomas and Sheriff Joey filed a lawsuit against judges, attorneys, county supervisors after the county requested felony charges to be filed against Sheriff Joey. This is Andrew Thomas response file a lawsuit. Now wasn't Andrew Thomas voted into office to protect and serve the community and not Sheriff Joey or for his own political gain. Well, there you have it two southern individual violating indivdiuals' rights.

Joe can't debate. He just offers up his view and you either accept it, in which case you are one of his cheerleaders, or you don't accept it, in which case he considers you his enemy. He is from a different time. He reminds me of my grandfather. Guys from that generation saw the world very differently and in black and white. There is no room for compromise in his world view. Don't expect change from an older guy like him.

Sheriff Joe is doing a job that is not popular- but is absolutely necessary. We live in a time where laws and the U.S. constitution are not taken seriously. Politicians and media are making law by picking and choosing which ones get exposure/support/enforced and which ones get ignored. I praise Sheriff Joe's unwavering pursuit of justice. It's what we need right now. You should be tough if you are responsible for enforcing the law.

I just read the article on the front page about the following subject:

Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas and Sheriff Joe Arpaio have filed a federal lawsuit against some county administrators, elected officials, judges and attorneys.

There was a picture of Joe and Andrew Thomas together talking to each other.

The caption for that photo should have read, "Joe and Andrew BFF ,(Best Friends Forever), wasting your tax dollars on frivolous lawsuits!

Mr. Arpaio is consumed by his own arrogance, his officers do commit racial profiling, buy his order, for I have whitnessed it with my own eyes. He and his pal Andrew remind me of Hitler's reign over Germany. They are a cancer on humanity. All Arizonans should be ashamed that this is the behavior we get from elected officials. How much more is Mr. Arpaio and Mr. Thomas going to cost this county and state. wake up people, for its only going to get worse. The arrogance and abuse of power needs to stop! Breaking the law to enforce the law and trampling civil rights should not be tolerated, ever.

i believe sheriff joe should is a fake. everytime someone stands up to him somethings ends up happening to that person. they get investigated and thats wrong. he is not cia or fbi or the president he is a maricopa county sherriff with a big head. every county, every state has illegal imaggration issues as well as their fair share of crime. do your job and leave the rest of us alone. just because someone doesnt like him gives him absolutly no right by any law to have them interragated or embarressed in the publics eye. just like what happened in court i believe it was last week when the deputy was going through the attorneys papers. legally he broke a law and broke confindetiality by bringing another officer over. he is there to uphold the security and peace of the offenders and court people. not to go look into other peoples business!! change is good i believe its time for another sherriff in maricopa county god only knows they couldnt be any worse than the one we have now.

It appears that to Mr. Arpaio and to those sponsoring him at the Fox networks, that it is events such as these that "sell," and that discord, not harmony, in communities is what sells news and ratings. And as far as the "sweeps" and such, appears also done more for ratings and publicity than addressing the actual needed enforcement - since that would be to enforce the law at the county borders thus preventing illegals from entering the county - and then progressively cut down on the influx of new illegals. Why haven't the Mariott or the chain car washes been busted, but public libraries in Mesa?

The politics of this issue is and has made Arizona into a war zone. And now it appears the spins are in attempting to use the students at ASU also for another publicity event - some of which it would seem - those that spoke of free speech as being both a "right" and a "responsibility" appear to be also attempting to silence the many who have watched their communities dissolve into war zones - whether staged or for real, it matters not - the peace of the community is affected and enjoyment of peoples homes in most of those neighborhoods.

And brought right into local communities means kids are now exposed to this type of grandstaging at an early age - since the effective measures would be for both political parties to work together to call the feds on their negligence in getting those borders secured now over eight years since 9-11 under the "common defense" provisions of the Constitution - and Secure Fence Act - since it would take agents arm in arm to secure those borders adequately and not fiscally affordable without ever increasing tax burdens.

A fence sounds cruel, but "good fences make good neighbors" and the Pope himself actually has one to secure his country, in addition to the Swiss Guard.

And isn't it time for grownups to start acting like grownups - instead of wearing funny hats, and really serving the needs of Arizonans by using the office to secure the county's borders instead?

And basic question - in the articles about running for Governor it now appears that Los Angeles media executives are now allowed to donate and promote candidates for positions outside even their own states, such as the Fox and Murdoch connections?

How can there be a government of the people, by the people, and for the people if most of these elected representatives are getting monies or sponsorships for outside their own states, county or district - since Fox's "home" offices are in Los Angeles for its U.S. operations?

Seems our Constitution and elected representatives are being elected by those with the most influence more and more due to that simple violation most of all - candidates getting out of district funding and also sponsorship actually means "representative" government as intended in the Constitution is dead.

The only people against Joe Arpaio are those who have been in his jails or family members of people who are in jail (where they belong). Mr. Arpaio has done more for the State of Arizona than all the past Sheriffs put together. An illegal alien is in fact "A CRIMINAL". Arrest them, send them home. You would be instrumental in lowering our expenses and our crime rate.

Why don't KPHO ask, What do we think of KPHO?

The media ,KPHO is on the wrong track when covering the Sheriff Joe story. An elected official doing the job of enforcing the laws which is what he is elected to do. Why don't KPHO put as much effort into changing the laws if it thinks something wrong is being done... I cannot imagine Sheriff Joe Arpiao doing his job any differently. He cannot ignore some laws and enforce only a choice few. He is doing a good job!

Like most that disagree with Joe, they would rather shout than debate. In a debate, they really have no footing as they support illegal activity plain and simple. If they want to change the law, go to the legislature and shout. Joe becomes more and more popular may even be our next governor. Today, Andrew Young and he turned the tables on politicans. This is great. Why doesn't Channel 5 ever investigate Mary Rose Wilcox? At the least she has violated the spirit of the law with her involvement with the airport restaurant. She has taken an opportunity from someone for her personal gain.

The real question is why are the Universitys not allowing intellectual debate and challenge? Those singers??? should have been escorted out without hesitation and be allowed to sit outside chanting for themselves to hear. Universitys must be geared for pursuit of knowledge.Otherwise what is the level to get in know the alphabet stay in the lines what? Here is a man of strong convictions and purpose with over 20 years of experience in law enforcement. He speaks at least two languages perhaps more. what a waste of time to listen to those moronic simpletons when one has the oppertunity to hear a fresh prespective. About that Grandfather remark GAWD! Mine took on Hitler and Dad was a true man of compassion and stability. what the H have we done? Really... what? Some have walked through H in Afghanistan why? Come on if the truth is that hard to find or debate then we are lying to ourselves. We are demeaning the abilities most of us have. We must do the critical thinking to reason and do the work. In our area we dont have anyone staying at the library at 3pm seriously even the cleaning crew is outta there. Sheriff Joe did the right thing if a person is illegally here they are hiding something usually bad. Example areas like El Paso is not hard to legally cross the border its done by lots of people shrimping, union carbide, name it. University of Arizonia you dont get it. Comprenda? Your dean was too slow on the draw His bad! Sheriff Arpaio is respected by a lot of people Hispanic and Anglo. He should have been welcomed and given the chance to speak in a democracy/ republic thats what we do. Boo on Uni of Arz!

Sheriff Joe is absolutly right -- if you are here undocumented, you are breaking the law and should be deported!! Why do we taxpayers have to give them free health, etc.? Mayor Phil Gordon with his "Sanctuary City" tendency, and KPHO's downgrading the Sheriff poorly serve their constituency. The way to handle this is to elect a different mayor and watch another local TV station!! Jose

It's no coincidence Joe and his minions wear brown shirts. Maricopa County residents apparently love Fascism, since the Gestapo tactics continue unabated, even cheered in the case of the most uninformed and least educated of society.

No coincidence there either. The German people in Nazi Germany really didn't mind Hitler all that much either. They had Jews, and Romanians, et al to focus their hatred on. In Maricopa County you have Mexicans, and, oh yeah, illegals!

Long as Joe can whip out the word 'illegal' that's all that's required. No one bothers to go check the data, no one questions the literally millions the MSCO has wasted on frivilous lawsuits, charges filed in retaliation, and what the cost of general harrassment amounts to.

When the taxes in Maricopa County go up to pay for this little dictator's power high, please don't whine about it. You've received what you asked for.

Its really too bad the posters in favor of “Nickel Bag Joe” the laughingstock of the DEA, and self proclaimed “AMREICAS TOUGHEST SHURFF” don't really know him or have never had the misfortune to be a target of this corrupt egomaniac psychopathic SOB. If they did they would change their opinion in a heartbeat. In the words of his own PIO, Lisa ”the mole” Allen once said “Intelligent people don’t vote for Joe” a Freudian slip perhaps but a whole lot of truth or maybe it wasn’t a slip after all.
I was glad to see the hecklers ran the jerk off stage at ASU, too bad they didn’t run him out of the state or country instead.
I’m not in favor of illegal immigration, however I’m also not in favor of racial profiling either or the way he uses his office to retaliate against anyone that stands up or speaks out against him, and believe me he does.
He is a liar from the word go and some of these ignorant posters supporting him want him as governor, you think the state has problems now, as the saying goes “YOU AIN’T SEEN NOTHIN YET”.
Remember this statement from the geriatric nut case? “We don’t racial profile but if they look like they came from Mexico, dress like they came from Mexico or sound like they came from Mexico” Let’s change that to “if they look like they come from Italy, have greasy hair (like Joe) speak Italian, or eat Italian food they must be illegal” or maybe Chinese, any race could be next on his list.
In case some have forgotten, this is the same psychopath that wanted to put a fence around Maricopa fingerprint everyone cited for a traffic violation, and bought t 5o Cal. Machine gun so he could shoot down planes flying over Maricopa County after 9-11.
These are not the ideas of a sane individual, not by a long shot.

The previous poster that labeled Joe as nickel bag Joe, is the typical Joe hater who like another poster said supports criminal activity, and has probably did time in the tents for selling nickel bags himself. It is really this simple. If you hate Joe you love criminals, and the destruction they are rendering to this once great State. When I was a a drug dealing tweaker, I shared the same view as the previous poster, now that I've sobered up, did a year in the tents and a year in rehab, and in recovery for 14 years I have a totally sober look at reality, a love of what's good, and a respect for the law. Id love to see Joe as Governor, but what scares me is what kind of loser would replace him. Heck Joe should be president in my opinion, then we could finally take back our nation as well as our state. Like most logical Arizonians wee are tired of do nothing politicians like Nappy, and that weasel mayor of Phoenix, and do nothing's like John McCain. Arizona is financially going down the toilet, because of DES taking care of all the illegal's (ask an DES official about their non-disclosure policy, and watch them tremble with fear) Arizonians are also getting tired of open border lunes playing the race card, it is getting old and carries no validity. We are also tired of hate groups like La Raza and the non-sense and lies they spread. People are seeing their jobs go down the tubes as they are being replaced by illegal's for 5.00 and hour. They are starting to look past the poor Mexican at Home Depot working for a meager wage to feed his family, and see the tons of dope, human smugglers, and gangsters crossing over into our state, and the millions of dollars of stolen property, laundered money crossing, weapons over to Mexico. We are becoming the laughing stock of America next to California, but the nation does see the works of Sherriff Joe and that does helps cling to what little respect we have left. If it takes a ruined economy to see the logic of keeping men of integrity like Joe in power, and opening the eyes of the blind then bring it on. At least their eyes will be opened to the truth of reality, the sad thing is it will be to late to recover, and Phoenix, will resemble the likes of Nogales.

EXHIBIT A: My ancient, but beloved, truck had been broken into and ransacked FIVE TIMES in as many months--despite the fact I had no drugs, guns, valuables or money. Coincidentally, I had often seen a couple of strong young men in ganster garb climbing over the neighbor's concrete wall next to my truck's parking space. Phoenix police had refused to take fingerprints from my truck. With no law enforcement, I was helpless, distressed, and seriously considering leaving Arizona. But THEN...After Sheriff Arpaio's first Crime Sweep through Arcadia, my truck was never bothered again! Nor did I ever see those two gangsters again! To those who have lost all moral clarity (if they ever had any to start with), I ask you to humble yourselves and thank God that the United States is a nation governed constitutionally by LAW, and NOT by tyrants, crooks, foreign nationals who disregard and sneak across our internationally recognized borders, or political wimps who see personal ADVANTAGE in supporting lawlessness! Sheriff Arpaio has been harrassed non-stop by "all the above" for doing what they REFUSE to do: Obey the U.S. Constitution and ENFORCE THE LAW. Without him, I'd still be a victim. Without him and other GOOD public servants, Arizona would be unlivable. Those two gangsters were hispanics, and I'd be very surprised if they weren't here illegally. We need ALL those in government to become stand-up public servants like Sheriff Arpaio--or get out of public office! PLEASE!

Joe was right to walk of stage. The hecklers were way out of line. Wakeup people!
According to the Maricopa County Criminal Justice records, illegal aliens commit violent crimes at almost 3 times that of native born Americans.
- We spend about $1 billion annually in K-12 on illegal aliens.
- Arizona #2 in the World in kidnappings.
- Illegal alien abuse of our medical facilities has forced many to close.
- Illegal aliens use our deserts to dump their non-degradable garbage.
- Through increases in taxation, our representatives are stealing our property in order to redistribute our wealth to illegal aliens.
- In the U.S., 26 citizens a day are killed by the actions of illegal aliens (12 by stabbings and shootings and 13 by DUI and related crimes)
- Services we are required to provide to illegals are bankrupting our states and lowering our quality of life and quality of education.
- Tucson public schools use race based ethnic study courses to denigrate the U.S., inculcating loyalty to Mexico.
- Abetting illegals enables the culture of corruption they bring to grow: Kidnapping, ID theft, drug wars, murder, vehicular manslaughter, gangs, graffiti, drop houses, hostage taking, blackmail, rape and death during transport of illegals, home invasions.
- voting for sanctuary cities allows potential terrorists, who are illegals, to walk our streets with impunity (4 of the 5 leaders and pilots of the 9-11 terrorist were stopped by law enforcement and released and were in violation of our immigration laws. Had they been arrested 9-11 would have been averted.

The following letter was sent to Dennis K. Burke today with the hopes that he will agree to establish a specialized outreach effort to collect information on the abuses by and corruption of Joe Arpaio. Of course, I signed my letter and included my contact information. It is my sincere hope that you, the readers, will follow suit and contact Dennis Burke's Office with your own information. Please be sure to use your name, address and contact information. It goes without saying that most government agencies are unlikely to act on anonymous information. To access Dennis Burke's contact information simply go to:

Honorable Dennis K.Burke
US Attorney for Arizona

Dear Mr. Burke,

Recent reports indicate that your office is aware of serious allegations of abuse and corruption within the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.

I respectfully request that, due to the nature of and the number of allegations of abuse and corruption within the office of Joseph M. Arpaio, your office establish a specialized outreach effort to allow those citizens with information to provide your investigators with enough detail to substantiate the allegations of corruption and abuse.

Specifically, my information is intended to provide you with instances of contract fraud, misuse of RICO funds, misuse of JEF funds, selective and targeted harassment, abuse of power, obstruction of justice, threatening and intimidating, Purjury, forgery and false swearing and providing false information on a public Financial Disclosure Form.

It is my understanding that there are also a number of MCSO employees willing to come forward to provide similar information.

Because of the complexity of the issues and volatile nature of the corruption within MCSO, it is unlikely that my information (or that of many others) could be adequately communicated through a tip line. Accordingly, I ask that you consider assigning a special outreach unit to address the overwhelming amount of information it is likely your office would be receiving.

For your kind consideration, and for your assistance I respectfully thank you in advance.

When Arizona has laws that prohibit illegal aliens from working in this state, they will resort to crime to provide for thier well being. What other choice do they have? Arizona needs law enforcement people like Joe. State and Fed. People are doing nothing. Arizona has 10% enemployment and needs to discourage illegals.
