Arpaio: I'm Not Running For Governor

Sheriff Joe Arpaio says he has decided not to run for Arizona governor.

"Right now, we are standing in the cross-hairs of history in this state and as sheriff of the most populous county in Arizona, there is much work yet to do," he said in a statement.

To leave this office open to appointment by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors of an interim sheriff may very well put us on a path that would be extremely displeasing to the voters of this county," he said.

If you think about it, it is only Mexico’s poor and criminals that are coming here. No, the ones with brains and money don’t come here illegally. So what are we getting from these millions of illegals? The bottom of the barrel that is what.

We have enough poor and homeless here we can’t afford already, we don’t need any more. The Mexican Government better start taking care of their majority. Or maybe the Mexican majority will do something about it? But that would take effort the Mexican majority has proven to lazy to do. It is much easier to come here illegally and get a job, have sex with American children, break the law and get sent home, get a FREE English education, get free food, free diapers, free medical care, everything for free, even rights they did not earn. But nothing is free, WE, us legal Americans have to pick up the tab!

Why should the Mexican majority change Mexico, when it is much easier to come here? Why is it easier? Because of the system that loves the modern day slaves. As long as the system is running our politicians(all but Joe) Mexico will never change and Joe’s crime rates will continue to rise.

No we never had a job in America that Americans didn’t want. We only have jobs here that want to pay a modern day slave wage instead of a legal American wage. Americans can’t live on the modern day slave wage, we pay taxes and we don’t have twenty or more living in one house like the slaves do. Yes 1070 and all the other talk about illegals, has gotten Americans angry to say the least. With anger comes hate with hate comes nothing but more hate. Now the Feds want AZ to sit on our new law for another year? How much more blood will spill in that time and how much more tax dollars will AZ have to spend on the modern day slaves?

Easy for the Feds to say don’t do anything, that is what the Feds have been doing forever now. But the Feds are not picking up the tab, we are. The Feds are not the ones who are dying, we are.

No, this was not the first blood spilled because of the modern day slaves. Americans have been dying from the illegals coming here since day one. Not just from guns, from the meth that they addict our children to too. Our children are being taken to Mexico and never seen again too. Our boarder towns had blood spilled every year since day one, not to mention all the lose from theft and all the lose of safety on their own land.

NO NO NO, AZ can’t wait any longer to clean up the mess the system made. It should have been cleaned up here years ago, but the last governor is still a puppet for the system. She now holds a higher position in the system, she is sitting in the White House to ensure the modern day slave system doesn’t change. A sad day for an illegal, A damn fine day for an American citizen. For this "illegal" the debate is over. I can't help but wonder, how many illegals must follow suite before they get the message. It seems very strange to me, that these illegals will come to our country and fight against" our citizenry, but will not stay in their own country and fight for" their own! citizenry. "Saying their request for information is "burdensome, overly broad, and intended to harass," the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office told the Board of Supervisors today that it will not comply with a subpoena demanding financial records.

The supervisors have been demanding the information since March -- resorting to a subpoena two weeks ago when their requests were met with silence.

As we reported last week, refusing to comply with the subpoena could lead to Sheriff Joe Arpaio facing a civil warrant for his arrest and ultimately being forced to appear before the board to answer for his refusal.

However, knowing this county, it's much more likely to result in (you guessed it!) costly litigation.

Representing the sheriff's office on the matter is its law firm of choice these days, Ogletree Deakins.

In a letter dated today, Ogletree attorneys Eric Dowell and Alec Hillbo argue that the board issued the subpoena not to get to the bottom of the financial situation in the county, but to "retaliate" against the sheriff's office "for protecting its legal interests and performing its law enforcement duties."

In its request for documents, the county had suggested that the sheriff was misusing the Jail Enhancement Fund, which involves a special sales tax approved by the voters to subsidize jail construction and operations. They believed that money, despite the earmark, was going to finance Arpaio's pet projects -- like immigration sweeps and harassing judicial assistants -- instead."

It is blatantly clear that our corrupt politician in charge of the MCSO has far too many dirty little secrets and to vacate his seat will open the doors to air out his stench in the public eye. He saw what happened at the MCAO when Candy Andy bailed and left his loyal goons (Aubuchon, Lotstein, Montgomery et al) holding the bag and knows that the same thing will happen in the sheriff's office. This is also why he has announced an intention to run for sheriff again in 2012. His only hope is that he can remain in office until he dies. Sorry, you can post your anti-Obama-Fed rhetoric day in and day out. What I am concerned about is Arpaio, Pearce, Brewer and the B.S. that has been written into law in the past few weeks.

It's a good thing that I can now carry a concealed weapon and buy liquor on Sunday morning at 6:00 a.m. I will ask everyone I meet if they are a candidate for the Presidency, and if they say "yes", I will ask to see the birth certificate. He knows how I feel about the Mexican government and wants me to have my daughter translate what I say about the Mexican government to Spanish. He says the Mexican majority needs to hear my words too. He understand now, that it is not just America that is to blame for their corrupt conditions, that yes in deed, their government is the greater problem for all of the Mexicans.

Joe is not just bringing out the true colors of the illegals, he has opened eyes in every state, when it comes to the reality of why the system loves the modern day slaves. I know Joe is not the first to be tough on illegal immigration in AZ. But Joe has brought the truth to America, even if it wasn’t his idea.

Yes my youngest daughter is bi lingo and yes my only 2 grand children are half Mexican. In an illegals eyes, my grandchildren are no different than me. In my eyes, my grandchildren are no different than me. At least we agree on one thing. Maybe one day we will all see eye to eye and Mexico will be changed for the good of all. How could this happen? No, there is not a single soul in any other country that believes America’s oil system, when told today’s air pollution(global warming) is a natural happening. Improper clearance of MCSO cases

New reports show that, under Arpaio, the MCSO may be improperly clearing as many as 75% of cases without arrest or proper investigation.[40][41][42][43] The sheriff's office has failed to properly investigate serious crimes, including the rape of a 14 year old girl by classmates,[44][45] the rape of a 15 year old girl by two strangers,[46][47] and the rape of a 13 year old girl by her father.[46][48] These cases were "exceptionally cleared" without investigation or even identifying a suspect in one case which are not in accordance with the FBI standards for exceptional clearance.[46][49] The case of the 15 year old girl, the case was closed within one month and before DNA testing was even complete, the 13 year old's because her mother didn't want to "to pursue this investigation," and the 14 year old's because a suspect declined to come in for questioning.[44][46] In a statement to ABC15, the Sheriff's Office claimed, "The Goldwater Institute’s report cites the FBI’s Uniform Code Reporting handbook, which is a voluntary crime-reporting program to compile statistical information and reports. The UCR is not intended for oversight on how law enforcement agencies clear cases...The Sheriff’s Office has its own criteria for clearing cases."[50]

In an interview on the ABC Nightline news program, when asked to explain why 82 percent of cases were declared cleared by exception, Arpaio said "We do clear a higher percentage of that. I know that. Joe doesn't know MCSO's clearance rate, or how it breaks down. He doesn't know about the Fourth Amendment to the US Constitution. What do you think of that?

Well, it might be more than 2 because of the anonymous posters but 2 that are identifiable. I have to wonder if they aren't the same person.

When a single politician (arpaio) can polarize a county the way this old man has, isn't it time to re-think county politics? Isn't it time to have some communion between the parties? Is being a deomcrat a crime worthy of jail time? Who is this anonymous person who is reporting a comment to the sheriff's department as a threat? I read that a few times and did not see a threat.

Why are people so at odds with each other over this? As the homepage says, arpaio has us polarized. It is time to work together. Why was arpaio at the steve colbert show instead of at the boarder control convention last year? He wanted tv time. Plain and simple.

For everyone here arguing about whether he is a good sheriff or a bad one, maybe the deeper question is are you a good person or a bad one.

You all take yourselves far too seriously. This is a blog. It is a networking site. People talking about filing reports and contacting the sheriff over posts is ridiculous. You got one person rambling on about Obama and another calling someone a sl** and someone saying that a certain post is a threat when clearly it is not, and another saying they're laughing about it... what is this really about?

It's about everyone having nothing better to do on a weekend than to banter about the craziest politician Maricopa County ever had -

What better way to know how effectively the laws are being enforced? Exactly. Arpaio labeled himself “America’s Toughest Sheriff”, he didn't earn the label. He was elected to the badge of Sheriff, he didn't "earn" that either.

I guess I need to allow for the possibility that in order to protect his self-image as "America’s Toughest Sheriff,", Arpaio doesn't want to know what a lousy job he's doing of law enforcement. Maybe that's why just about all you get from him is self-promoting political rhetoric.
