Sheriff Strikes Back At CBS 5 News

In two separate incidents this past week, Sheriff Joe Arpaio and his office have railed against CBS 5 News.

On Monday, Arpaio tweeted a response to past coverage of his activities:

And on Thursday, the Sheriff's Office produced a video response to a story about animal remains found in a Phoenix home. CBS 5 News reporter Jose Miguel says he e-mailed MCSO twice for comment; the Sheriff's Office says it never received the e-mails:

KPHO-TV News Director Michelle Donaldson posted the following response on the video's YouTube page:

CBS 5 News tried twice to get a response from MCSO, beginning at 1:47pm that day. Detectives said they never got our messages. However, they insist that we continue to use the designated phone lines for media and not contact them directly.

This is a public agency serving the public.

We will continue to direct appropriate scrutiny toward MCSO and all agencies that serve our viewers.

The link you gave me answered most of my questions, as to who did this survey about Joe and who hired them to do this survey. No, it was not your boss that hired them, the survey center chose to take it upon them selves to do these Joe polls?

I find that very interesting to say the least. Still, in all the things they say about the Joe survey, they never really prove how they pick the ones polled. Other than they were impartial. They only interviewed 800 in this poll as well. A far cry from the millions here. Polls are very misleading, only polling 800, is one reason why. I believe there is other reasons as well.

They say they are impartial. However, we know in our society, most have motives for what they do, money. For this survey company to take it upon them selves, to take a survey about Joe with no other motive, is hard for me to buy. I believe there is lobbyist involved in getting the center to take this poll. That is what I think and I guess we will never know for sure. Lobbyist and the ones that they buy are very quiet about what happens behind closed doors.

Thanks for the link, even though I am convinced my first thoughts are right, it is the system that is responsible for this poll.

Liz F - North Phoenix said...: So, anyways, to get on with the Joe saga, the MSCO deputy that ran the puppy back into the burning home was a problem for Joe. He needed to charge his own officers, but didn't, and endured a bunch of heat because of it. Over time, several inmates in his jail died, as did 3 canines in the 'care' of his deputies. No one was ever charged. Joe's on camera comment was "my deputies did nothing wrong". Public sentiment against this 'no fault' sheriff was growing. It was an election year.

Sadly, Chandler PD Canine Unit officer Tom Lovejoy made a tragic error. He left his buddy "Bandit" in a car, planning to be on the road again soon, but 'life' interupted him and he forgot the dog was there. Bandit died from heat exhaustion. Lovejoy immediately contacted his department's CO. The Chandler PD performed an internal investigation and found Lovejoy "negligent" and demoted him. Fair enough. I feel sorry for Tom and his family, but facts are facts.

Along comes the Joke and his 2008 campaign. He's been criticized for never finding his officers as having done anything wrong. Starting with the puppy that the SWAT officer in the "Dog Day Afternoon" article referenced above, several inmates had died in jail, and 3 MCSO canines had dies while in the care of the deputies charged with caring for the dogs. Never, ever, ever, does Joe's deputies do anything wrong. He was under high criticism for this.

Ah HAH! Here is an opportunity for Joe Arpaio to PUNISH an law enforcement officer. (Not one of his, of course, he'd never do that!)

Lovejoy became his target. He was charged with feloney animial abuse. He was arrested at work, in front of his fellow officers. His wife and children were harrassed by animal rights activists. He had to hire an attorney to defend himself, at the tune of many thousands, to be sure.

When Lovejoy's arrest was announced, Joe Arpaio, of course, called a press conference to announce it. He had the old croc tears going on, explaining how it was one of the hardest decisions he had ever had to make.

A few months later, when Lovejoy's attorney wanted Joe at a deposition, Joe held another press conference explaining that he had no information about the investigation, he was not a 'decision maker' in the case, he had not interviewed anyone nor looked at any files... "Cop out"!!

Lovejoy was found not guilty of felony animal abuse. The last I heard, he and his family have filed a malicious persecution lawsuit against MCSO. The damages sought were not disclosed.

I hope they win big, even though it's my tax dollars that will pay the suit.

If Joe didn't charge his own officer in the "Dog Day Afternoon" story where a MCSO SWAT officer chased a puppy into a burning home, then there is NO REASON for him to charge Tom Lovejoy for a "negligent" - NOT INTENTIONAL - action!!

Lovejoy was devestated by the loss of Bandit. The SWAT officer that chased that little family pet back into the burning home was PROUD to have 'neutralized' the dog with a fire extinguisher.

Why does the system ran Federal government love the modern day slaves?
Answer, they make A LOT of money, for many different industries.

How does government help the system?
Answer, A recent way was with mega dairy farms. The system replaced family owned farms with mega farms, in all of WI and in many others states. These mega farms ALL hire modern day slaves to run them.

How did the system get mega farms?
Answer, The Federal government sets milk prices. When they cut the family farms milk check from $16 for one hundred pounds of milk to $8. Two and a half family farms went out of business everyday in WI, tell there was no more. Could any survive if all their bills went up and half their income is taken away? Their land was sold to big bank investors. These investments in mega farms, not only hurt the small farm, they hurt all of the American majority. How? by using non tax paying workers, who send a huge amount of the money they earn to Mexico. These workers never file an insurance claim for medical or workmen comp, which saves insurance companies here billions. The tax payers pick up the medical bills. The mega farms can pay the bills using slaves to milk their cows 3 times a day around the clock for cheap. The family farm is gone and now the cows suffer too. Cows that stand in crap their entire life waiting to be milked. Yet our price for milk never goes down in the stores?

Answer, The Federal government sets milk prices. When they cut the family farms milk check from $16 for one hundred pounds of milk to $8. Two and a half family farms went out of business everyday in WI, tell there was no more. Could any survive if all their bills went up and half their income is taken away? Their land was sold to big bank investors. These investments in mega farms, not only hurt the small farm, they hurt all of the American majority. How? by using non tax paying workers, who send a huge amount of the money they earn to Mexico. These workers never file an insurance claim for medical or workmen comp, which saves insurance companies here billions. The tax payers pick up the medical bills. The mega farms can pay the bills using slaves to milk their cows 3 times a day around the clock for cheap. The family farm is gone and now the cows suffer too. Cows that stand in crap their entire life waiting to be milked. Yet our price for milk never goes down in the stores?

The drug lords there have better weapons and more money than the Mexican Police. Why? Because their government steals the Mexican majorities money and is controlled by the money of the drug lords. These drug lords are now taking over Mexico completely. France was a cakewalk compared to their new drug lord ran government.

The Federal government has allowed Mexico to move our boarder. They are deported one day and back the next. How can the Feds be stopping a terrorist with hollow boarders? How long will it be, before we start calling them nuke backs?

Joe is doing everything he can to fight the American invasion by Mexico. While the Federal government calls Mexico our best ally? Best for what, modern day slaves? That’s exactly what they mean, when they call Mexico our best ally. Billions of dollars for mega farms in WI and other industries here. “So what if they kill a few Americans with chemical war fare, they are just low lives.” Maybe they won’t feel that way when one of their kids does as all kids, and does something they regret. The Federal ran Boarder Patrol, pretends there is nothing wrong with having a southern boarder that allows anyone carrying anything they want, to walk right into America. Okay then!

Back to Arpaio. From the East Valley Tribune series entitled "Reasonable Doubt" :

Employees were preparing to close the 99 Cent Discount Store in El Mirage on Aug. 20, 2006, when a teenage girl ran inside.

Agitated and refusing to leave, the 15-year-old girl told the store's manager that two men had just raped her in a ditch outside, a police report says.

Paramedics took the girl to Del E. Webb Hospital in Sun City West, where medical staff found physical evidence of sexual assault, according to deputy chief Bill Knight, head of the sheriff's central investigations, who researched the case.

At midnight, a detective from the MCSO's special victims unit arrived at the hospital to begin an investigation, the report says.

But the investigation never really began.

The MCSO closed the case a month later by designating it "exceptionally cleared," which is supposed to be applied to cases where a suspect is known and there's enough evidence to make an arrest but circumstances prevent an arrest. That designation allows the MCSO to count the case in the same reporting category as investigations that end in arrest.

But in this case, the detectives didn't have a suspect and appear to have done no work on the case.

So to all those who keep intoning that Joe enforces the law. It seems not be be so. Most Maricopa County residents, I dare to say would like a Sheriff who enforces all the laws, and does that in a professional manner so that the cases stick in court. They'd like Arpaio to just do his job on their behalf, as they elected him to do. He appears to be more interested in promoting himself.

Wow- deal with the facts- ALL of them. You've yet to even post any figures to show how effective MCSO is in carrying out the one thing you keep harping on, especially comparing them to other agencies. Propaganda is typically short on verifiable facts. Mark Gasser simply refuses to provide any. Why?

Gasser thinks he can make the truth go away by just posting his garbage repeatedly. Then he can kick back in his little fantasy world while people like that poor girl who got raped deal with the consequences of the crimes against them on their own. And the rapist is out doing it again, with nobody after him.

I would conclude that criminals love the way Joe carries out his duties! Mark- do you speak for criminals? Criminal hamsters? What?

There are plenty of facts out there of what Arpaio has done and is still doing and is being investigated for.
